School life

Sports play an important role in education. A wide range of both individual and team sports is available: athletics, cross country running, golf, tennis, stretching, baseball, basketball, volleyball, football, rugby, martial arts, fencing, canoeing …Thermoludism activity (girls: Year 7 / Year 11). In April, the school organizes an annual game of SOULE (ancestor of rugby). The activities are carried out in partnership with the cities of Casteljaloux (golf, horse riding, thermoludism …) and Marmande.
Complementary to the education programme:

  • Conferences at the school and school field trips (cinema, theater, exhibitions, visits of companies)
  • “Nomadic Workshops “
  • Spectator Sports: Meilhan’s Basketball, Marmande’s rugby, football game of the Girondins of Bordeaux.
  • Club Activities (scholarship, business, computer, internet, chess, video, music, cooking, gardening, drawing) programmed according to their availability.
  • Annual seminars.
  • Entertainment : Opera of Bordeaux.
  • School field trips at the Chaban-Delmas Stadium in Bordeaux
  • Humanitarian activities organized by the school.
Weekends begin on Friday, in the middle of the afternoon and end on Monday at midday. For parents who would like to, the school organizes full boarding with a family from Friday night to Monday morning with mandatory study time. Tersac school organizes study time on Saturday from 9.00 am to 12 pm and Monday from 9.0à to 11.30 am for all volontary students.
The student is free to attend to the services of the parish. Religious education classes are possible, but not mandatory.
Important holidays are celebrated: Christmas, Carnival (February), Easter.

A small number of pupils

A maximum of 16 pupils per classroom

and a different and innovative schedule.

Courses in the morning, activities in the afternoon, supervized study in the evening.

School rules

CODE OF HONOUR – BEHAVIOUR

Failure to honor the code may result in the following sanctions:

  • Detention or community service
  • Warning – Reprimand
  • Suspension for 3 days
  • Suspension for 8 days
  • Expulsion

In case of serious misconduct, pupils may be permanently expelled withour prior notice. Parents

ETHICS

Parents and students agree to fully respect the education contract.

SCHOOL LIFE

Every day, half- time boarders must go to the sudents’welcoming desk (“Vie scolaire“) upon their arrival at school. Departure on 7.00 pm. Vehicles’ keys will be handed over on Monday morning.

ABSENCES

All absences must be reported by the parents before written confirmation. Otherwise the school will send a notice of absence.

DELAYS

No delay is allowed.

DETENTION

Detentions may be carried out on Friday afternoon, Saturday and possibly Monday morning during which the school uniform is compulsory.

TELEVISION, VIDEO GAMES AND LAPTOPS

The television is accessible for watching the news every night between 19.00 to 20.00.

All video and music players and laptops are prohibited during the week, but allowed on weekends.

RISK BEHAVIOUR

Smoking in the school is strictly forbidden except with a parental permission on certain times in a restricted area.

Any student holding illegal substances will be immediately excluded from school and brought before the jucidial authorities and police. The tuition will be due.

MAIL

Mail is delivered daily.

SCHOOL UNIFORM AND HYGIENE

  • The uniform is mandatory and must be respected.
  • Suitable hair cut.
  • No dying nor coloring allowed (both boys and girls).
  • Piercings, tattoos and exaggerated demonstration of wealth are prohibited
  • Students who do not abide by the hygiene rules may be punished.

Students can recieve phone calls between 11.40 am and 1.15 pm. Outside these hours, the secretary will forward messages. Mobiles: possible on Monday mornings and Friday afternoons.

TRANSPORTATION

There is a bus between Tersac and Gare de Marmande (return) that corresponds to the school schedule.

Other destinations are accessible from Marmande train station. Bordeaux Mérignac Airport is one hour away.
(There are shuttle buses between St Jean train station and Bordeaux).

NURSERY

Facilities for routine care. A school doctor is present.

INSURANCE

Insurance is included in registration.

LAUNDRY SERVICE

Ensured by the school.

POCKET MONEY, VALUABLES

It is advised to carry the minimum amount of pocket money. It is advised not to bring valuables to school. The school can not be held responsible for loss or theft.
